Inside the first self-sustainable city on Mars - by ABIBOO studio
Construction of the city of Nüwa could start in 2054 and will see 250,000 people live inside the rock of a steep cliff. Freeze my body, melt me in 80 years, and send me to Mars. Architecture studio ABIBOO has revealed its plans to create the first self-sustainable city on the Red Planet, which is set to be ready for residents in 2100. The city will be called Nüwa and will be located at Tempe Mensa on one of the Martian cliffs. Its position inside a rock on the steep cliff will protect its residents from radiation and meteorites (cool!) while still giving them

Static & Virtual lives
Although "Time" will be the only constant between the present and the future, the sense of it will definitely change. Automation and VR will transform and fasten our experiences on multiple levels. Probably our ability to move and travel will be restricted due to climate change, viruses, etc but our eyes will be able to see more 'things', watch faster, and explore farther, places and dimensions never existed before. It will be like living simultaneously in a static physical world and an immersive/dynamic virtual one. What is real and what is not will be extremely hard to define.
Access to housing for young people. (Dostupnost bydlení pro mladé lidi.)
Ideal future? First and foremost, we should have where to live!
Our civilisation is in a huge upheaval. People are doing business, inventing, setting up companies and expanding them. But what’s young people? Housing availability is already extremely low at that time. All want to have their own apartment, house, but where to take money when a young person barely studying does not have enough money?
There are only 3 options. Take a mortgage that we then have to pay for decades. Acquire a rental apartment. And the most common option, housing with family.
Every young person wants to live alone, this is clear, wants to become independent and to make a career in what he loves. If you are lucky and you can live with your family, you can start saving slowly, but just as you wait for your own apartment for several years. But what are young people who have not grown up in the family, but in foster care? They are left open. They will hire them to have at least their place of residence, but rent costs will cut their income enormously. In addition, at today’s household costs...
Solutions? We need to start building. Cities are becoming overcrowded, so we need to build on the countryside. If we do not start as quickly as possible and build new apartments and houses as many as possible, house prices will continue to be very high in 2040 as now. Another possible solution is to support young people in purchasing real estate, in particular by housing subsidies, which can make it easier for young and honest people to start their lives.
Europe, a new house!
A flourishing society (Μια ανθισμένη κοινωνία )
An important issue I think will also affect all other areas of people’s lives is the environment. If human beings were actively aspiring to their maintenance and preservation, through this change in behaviour, care for the community would also be embraced, and new, more important values than those existing in today’s society would emerge.
Back to family’s safety
People will get back to the closest members of their family and community. They will be exhausted of the working, financial, and technological changes and isolation of the previous decades and will get back to their roots to find their sentimental balance and happiness. This turn is up to citizens’ will and I feel that the dead end will face in the following years 2025-2030, will make people to decide what they are willing to do, in order to survive as species.
Be visionary or realistic? (Να είσαι οραματιστής ή ρεαλιστής;)
The ideal future would be in line with the lyrics of John Leon, imagine all the people living life in peace etc. It is different that we are facing a future for those who are idealists and we have some ideals and unfortunately our reality is sharply landing... As science and technology are going to evolve, great discoveries are therefore emerging in medicine, astronomy, computing, robotics and sciences General. The issue is how people use them, or even worse a minority who decides with the ‘so I want’ for the whole planet. Climate change will become more and more felt, our environment and nature are coming to light because we have fought on the planet as well. I want to be optimistic that better days will come, but what happens is difficult to imagine a better tomorrow.
Green & Equal cities
I imagine a future with fewer cars, less pollution, and less noise.
With more trees, comfortable pedestrian streets, and accessible to everyone (people with disabilities).
As for technology, it would be a vital element of life. Some of us would feel benefited, but some others will not.
