Inside the first self-sustainable city on Mars - by ABIBOO studio
Inside the first self-sustainable city on Mars - by ABIBOO studio
Construction of the city of Nüwa could start in 2054 and will see 250,000 people live inside the rock of a steep cliff. Freeze my body, melt me in 80 years, and send me to Mars. Architecture studio ABIBOO has revealed its plans to create the first self-sustainable city on the Red Planet, which is set to be ready for residents in 2100. The city will be called Nüwa and will be located at Tempe Mensa on one of the Martian cliffs. Its position inside a rock on the steep cliff will protect its residents from radiation and meteorites (cool!) while still giving them

ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE (ALTERNATIVNA MEDICINA)
ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE (ALTERNATIVNA MEDICINA)
In 2040, I expect people to realise that modern medicine cannot cure everything and that we will make more use of alternative medicine to prevent disease from happening even before they fall ill. Moderna medicine treats only the symptoms, but not the causes of the disease, and at the end of treatment we are not in fact healthy at all, but we simply postpone our disease to a later stage. I believe that official medicine should also be used for alternative medicine, and children should be taught in schools.
Optimism for all (Optimizem za vse)
Optimism for all (Optimizem za vse)
I would like to see a stronger focus on the mental health of children and young people. Focus on internal happiness, the importance of satisfaction, peace. I would like to see optimism in humans. Even if things are not going as intended, people still have an optimistic but realistic view of the world. In 2040, I would like and see people able to cope with stress much more satisfaction and smile on the face.
A sustainable future (Trajnostna prihodnost)
A sustainable future (Trajnostna prihodnost)
Agriculture is a particularly important area for me. 20 years later, I would like the food chain to be decentralised in order to build a lot of more local producers (where they can of course) in order for agricultural policy to start thinking about regenerative and sustainable agriculture. I believe that this would increase humanity’s safety and improve the health picture of the whole population. Defensively, seed banks should separate themselves from the pharmaceutical giants currently operating with seed banks (Bayern). The profession must also address the question of the extent to which a healthy diet can actually improve human health in the long term.
The future of recycling
The future of recycling
For exaple, since i moved to EU, i realised how good it is to have separate bins for the garbage, and how important it is to recycle. In my country we don't do that. Few years ago we got the separate bins for paper...but no one uses that. So for the future us, i would love to see the change in the recycling part of our lifes.
Back to roots (Nazaj h koreninam )
Back to roots (Nazaj h koreninam )
I imagine a world where there is peace and there is no war, we are still in politics. I also imagine that, now, the younger generation will be more responsible to avoid learning from the mistakes they now live in. Because this makes sense not to repeat history. The world in which our children will live will be more advanced, the more the environment and the standard of living will be higher than it is now. More emphasis will be placed on care for the elderly, as the population is ageing and this will be a political priority. I also think that young people will want to spend more time in nature and put more emphasis on returning to the roots, i.e. old lifestyles, because we will become too tired and technology and this virtual life.
Safe and fair (Varno in pravično)
Safe and fair (Varno in pravično)
In view of my age in 20 years, I am particularly keen to have good health care and high-quality and accessible care for older people. I am not forgotten but also young people – I want social and economic security for them, jobs, access to housing...
IMPROVEMENTS TO THE HEALTH SYSTEM (IZBOLJŠAVE ZDRAVSTVENEGA SISTEMA)
IMPROVEMENTS TO THE HEALTH SYSTEM (IZBOLJŠAVE ZDRAVSTVENEGA SISTEMA)
In 2040, I would like our health system to be organised much better than it is now. I am of the opinion that much more diseases can be prevented than they are actually surmounted by preventive screening, especially in the field of mental health. I would like to see the introduction of preventive health checks in the field of mental health and the identification of problems from the outset, as we see visual impairment for example in a systematic review. Once the problems have been identified, the patient would be seconded to a real expert to diagnose and assist him. In other areas of health, I would also like doctors to focus on human beings as a whole and not exclusively on their area of work, as this would give the patient a better treatment.
Black holes (Črna luknja)
Black holes (Črna luknja)
A better future: working part-time, work-appropriate pay to spend. More preventive medical examinations, as I work hard or physically difficult work (kitchen assistant – what this means: every day, I need to raise up to 700 kg of potatoes, containers and have a completely destroyed spine, legs and I am completely eaten) and I would expect more preventive action in this area to make things easier for us. For such professions, pre-retirement, especially for women, at least up to 55 years of age, or if you already have more rewards up to that quota, if you choose to work after 55. For difficult occupations, women are in early retirement.
Join forces! (S skupnimi močmi!)
Join forces! (S skupnimi močmi!)
It seems very important to me that we start slowly returning ‘back to time’, reverting to the community and ‘home’ the individualisation that the modern world requires of us. I believe that we are in the world to survive together – in the sense that not everyone works alone, but it is very important to interdependency from humans and to rely on each other. Everyone would contribute to society which would make up some of the necessary livelihoods. They would live in some kind of shared housing dependent on self-sufficiency and natural resources – i.e. surrounded by nature. I would not go to the job/after corrections each with his own car, but would share or make good bus/rail lines to make it easier to travel. We would resist a capitalist way of thinking that gradually leads society into a divide. People would have the opportunity to stop and breathe, look to themselves and each other. Everyone would have the right to life, a variety of minorities that are often overlooked, LGBTQ+ groups that are oppressed – it would essentially be a borderless world, as the border is an imaginary concept that inspires hatred and nationalism. It would not be absurd who and what we are, because we would all strive for equality and a beautiful tomorrow. In short, it is difficult to describe – but the whole system would work differently. Schools would learn something essential to survival and think outside the contexts in which we need to think today.
My climate affected future
My climate affected future
Due to the recent news on climate change, when I think about the year 2040, I honestly don't see a future for the current generations. I am not an expert, but it is easy to conclude that in the coming years, living conditions are going to get harder and harder. My better future is contained from a healthy life, for which we all have to work for to live it.

a future without wars
Prosperity and satisfaction for all (Blaginja in zadovoljstvo za vse)
Prosperity and satisfaction for all (Blaginja in zadovoljstvo za vse)
In the future, I want prosperity and the satisfaction of as many people as possible in different areas of life. As a young person, I am very concerned about things like climate change, precarious work, housing crisis (specific situation in Slovenia),... I want people to live more friendlessly, with a fair salary and pension, various insurances, when you need some help, to find it and to get it. I believe that job and financial satisfaction also contributes to a more happy life in general, when we have more time and the chance to do things in our leisure time. But it also contributes to a better image of society as a whole.
