Inside the first self-sustainable city on Mars - by ABIBOO studio
Inside the first self-sustainable city on Mars - by ABIBOO studio
Construction of the city of Nüwa could start in 2054 and will see 250,000 people live inside the rock of a steep cliff. Freeze my body, melt me in 80 years, and send me to Mars. Architecture studio ABIBOO has revealed its plans to create the first self-sustainable city on the Red Planet, which is set to be ready for residents in 2100. The city will be called Nüwa and will be located at Tempe Mensa on one of the Martian cliffs. Its position inside a rock on the steep cliff will protect its residents from radiation and meteorites (cool!) while still giving them

White future (Λευκό μέλλον )
White future (Λευκό μέλλον )
We are in 2040. Since 2022, significant changes have taken place in the field of medical sciences and health. Treatment in the then incurable cancer disease is very close to being achieved. Longevity is now possible as life expectancy has risen significantly. This has become a reality through technologies that have been developed to improve the quality of the food consumed and after long-standing efforts the air we breathe is much cleaner than 20 years ago.
Creativity and environment (Δημιουργικότητα και περιβάλλον)
Creativity and environment (Δημιουργικότητα και περιβάλλον)
In the future, what matters most is the economic well-being of everyone and of course the protection of the environment that is slowly flowing. We will find many more ways to harness renewable energy sources. It will also be slower, rather than even faster, and the success of a hetery will depend on the creativity of its employees.
Financial Freedom & Passion
Financial Freedom & Passion
People have the financial freedom to do what you are passionate about. Some type of universal basic income would be implemented. You could focus on the stuff you love to do. Higher education would be easier, innovation and art would flourish.
Other people (Άλλοι άνθρωποι)
Other people (Άλλοι άνθρωποι)
I imagine a future without punctuality and individual interest. A better future for all people in the earth, regardless of skin colour, race or sexual preferences. A future that people will be aware of what is going on around them. A human-dominated future. The future will only be better if people change themselves. Technology is sometimes less helpful, especially when it is in the wrong hands.
Solutions (Solutions)
Solutions (Solutions)
In the future cures for various diseases and a solution for environmental pollution will have been found

Spread of human beings in space (Εξάπλωση του ανθρώπου στο διάστημα)
I personally believe (or want to believe) that space technology and exploration will be particularly developed in the future. In 2040, I would like to return to the saliva (and have some kind of base there) and to be in the process (or we have already succeeded) in sending the first people to Mars. On the form of space exploration, I hope that by 2040 there will be substantial cooperation at global level, both between all nations and between the private and public sectors. Finally, I hope that in 2040 the cost of space travel will be at levels that allow a fairly large part of the population to visit or research space.
Ideal life (Ιδανική ζωή)
Ideal life (Ιδανική ζωή)
I imagine my future better than the present. Threats to our planet, such as climate change, have been largely combated. Technology has become even more developed and has penetrated all sectors. Finally, in this future, we are not threatened by large companies.
Too busy for jobs
Too busy for jobs
By 2040 nobody has a job. It’s not that we ran out of things to do, it is just that we don’t use the model based on labor and income anymore. It all started with the application of the universal basic income. People used to take the best job they could find while relying on their savings. Sometimes they stuck to their jobs because they feared not finding something better. Even governments offered legal concessions to businesses in exchange for fixing large amounts of labor. Once people didn’t have to choose their jobs out of scarcity, they became pickier about the jobs they were taking. Taking a job wasn’t a completely free choice before. Now only those truly willing to perform some activity do it. No one is looking after the paycheck. We got better practitioners, and they are highly motivated. Some jobs have disappeared as they were particularly unpleasant for people. There are no teleoperators taking calls for clothing brands full-time, nor concierges attending the building hall, also there are way fewer fishermen. Since there were increasingly fewer people willing to take these roles, we had to redesign many of our processes, making them more intuitive. Of course, technology had a role in all of this. However, we haven’t automated every task to replicate how life used to be. We are using robots in heavier industries. We are also applying AI nurtured with public data as an asset for the common good to improve decision-making and minimize workload. Nonetheless, there are way too many tasks that we can't automate. For those activities, we have to arrange deals with each other. People now have to take over way more tasks than they used to. Many of them are related to care, such as cleaning common spaces, cooking, or gardening. For example, when you go eating outside there are usually no waiters anymore, you have to serve yourself. Gamification is the cornerstone of our society. People are not forced to do anything in exchange for money. Then, they need to enjoy the activities they do or at least understand their purpose. We still have people who study biology, people with amazing sewing skills, and people who fly planes. They have various incentives to do these activities, either creativity expression, prestige, curiosity, or self-fulfillment. They just don’t have to do these activities every day full-time. They do these when they want to or have committed with the people they work with. We had to find new ways of collaboration that were not based on labor to keep on having some of the systems we enjoyed, such as traveling. The experts create associations and manage their work to provide a stable service. People take on other activities the rest of their day, like looking after their loved ones, crafting, or resting. Monday to Fridays are not all about work, and there is way less anxiety over productivity. In the beginning, many people didn’t know how to manage all that free time. It is actually always free time now. The fixed schedule of labor was frustrating, but it provided certainty to people’s life. People weren’t used to associating freely or reciprocity culture. It has taken some years for people to imagine new lifestyles that are not defined by their profession but by their purpose. Now people are too busy doing their own thing to think about jobs.

Let’s change perspective (Laten we van perspectief veranderen )
Let’s change perspective (Laten we van perspectief veranderen )
In my ideal future, there are no borders and every human being has the right to settle where he wants and with whom. In my ideal future, people fleeing are welcome and received in dignity. In my ideal future, everyone will have the opportunity to develop in safety and with the necessary support. All the barriers that today prevent families from being together disappear in my ideal future. We act from an intrinsic belief that every human life is equally worth, enriching diversity and rewarding it. The money spent on border controls, surveillance and immigration services is being invested massively in education, fair trade, sustainable energy sources, nature and climate.
