Inside the first self-sustainable city on Mars - by ABIBOO studio
Inside the first self-sustainable city on Mars - by ABIBOO studio
Construction of the city of Nüwa could start in 2054 and will see 250,000 people live inside the rock of a steep cliff. Freeze my body, melt me in 80 years, and send me to Mars. Architecture studio ABIBOO has revealed its plans to create the first self-sustainable city on the Red Planet, which is set to be ready for residents in 2100. The city will be called Nüwa and will be located at Tempe Mensa on one of the Martian cliffs. Its position inside a rock on the steep cliff will protect its residents from radiation and meteorites (cool!) while still giving them

For a better sustainable governance in Europe and in the World
For a better sustainable governance in Europe and in the World
In 2040, the world will be a completely different place: climate change and biodiversity loss will have huge consequences on the societies in "third world countries", but also in industrialized countries with higher standard of living. Droughts, the rising of sea levels and forests fires will have a major impact on the world's GDP. This is why the United Nations will decide to suggest an upheaval of its climate governance: the outcomes of the Conference of the Parties (COPs) based on the UNFCCC will be binding. The IPCC will have a bigger role of advisors. The International Monetary Funds (IMF) will be turned into a "climate bank" on the model of the European Investment Bank and will lend money to countries which suffer the most from climate change. This money will tackle asymmetric schocks and will be used for climate change mitigation projects. Finally, all the major UN agencies, like the World Trade Organization, will work closer together to abide by the UN sustainability goals. In Europe, a more integrated Europe will be a leader on the world stage to underpin this new climate governance. The European Green Deal will enable the EU to turn its economy into a greener one with very high value added. Thanks to comprehensive policies related to the development of renewable energies, energy efficiency and mitigation of greenhouse gases, the objective of climate neutrality is within reach by 2050. A European government with a stronger European Parliament will a have a decisive say on the global climate governance and will push for more ambitious policies throughout the world. The possibility of imposing sanctions to countries which don't respect the principles of the climate governance. Those massive changes would have never happened without the huge mobilization of the civil society all around the world, not only in Europe and North America, but also in mediatically less exposed countries in Africa, Asia, and Oceania.
A new relationship to food.
A new relationship to food.
In 2040, our relationship to food will be very different. The change in climate in Europe and around the world will have disrupted many traditional food production systems and we will have to be much more careful with food waste. Europe will be subjected to severe droughts, floods and random frost that affect the productivity of agriculture severely. As a result of this and pressures on food transport because of limits to energy use, the choice of food in shops will also be reduced compared to 2020 and much more linked to seasons. Overall, the price of food will have increased and food vouchers will be distributed to the poorest people. At the same time, diets will have become healthier. In response, people will have developed their cooking skills to diversify meals and reduce waste (e.g. prepare leftovers or use ingredients of lower quality). Food is no longer treated as a commodity. It has become something to respect and has regained status as one of life's basic necessities.
Permaculture as a base
Permaculture as a base
In 2040 we live in a permaculture world. We follow the natural ecosystem which makes sure everything is in balance, everything supports each other. It is about the biodiversity of everything, in nature, in buildings, in education. The diversity supports each other. We now understand and respect that. Nature has evolved in a beautiful way, let's follow that flow.

human-hubs in the urban city of 2040 #anthropoinvestment #socialurbanhubs #2040 #futurecity
My covid experience and restriction measures, staying within the limits of my neighborhood, made me find out more about my neighborhood and the people next door and next street. So, waking up in 2040, puts me in a city of the future, where neighborhoods are small social, smart, and green hubs that interconnect with each other and are knitted giving the full picture of the urban city where people talk, are active, take initiatives, share. Green roof tops and sky gardens, solar walls and windows as panels in building surfaces capturing the sun, green spaces to let us breath, green streets with places for fun or rest in the streetscape, buildings of low height so that light and air reach the ground, people strolling in the streets enjoying health and well-being, social transportation and transit, easy access to transit and services, family-essence units to live in and interact with others, recycling and reusing. In general, a city of the future for all (disabled, social minorities, different generations) with access to goods and services and a quality of everyday life.
Connection among human beings and their social and natural environment
Connection among human beings and their social and natural environment
climate change What will we see in 2040? - weather changes - disrupted food systems - new health challenges - new migration schemes What would be the ideal change? - deeper awareness among human beings that they are connected/part of their wider social and environmental network, and that they should be aware of that in their daily actions and decisions (rather than having self-pursuit as something that gives them enjoyment). Expressing love for their environment should be at the core of what gives human fulfillment in life. - immediate action for mitigation
Compating a strong enermy
Compating a strong enermy
I believe that scenarios such as moving to space are unlikely to happen. Nevertheless I really think that s number of areas are going to change dramatically. One of the areas that I believe that it is realistic to expect is to have fount cure for cancer. I believe that the emergence of medichine has been massive over the years and that it will provide the tools in order to cope with such a problem which affects humanity for thousants of years now. Of course this will also have side effects such as the increase in human life span and others.
a shrinking world
a shrinking world
In 1975 the world shrunk by the upcoming tourism which became possible through the airplane travel possibilities and we could meet other cultures In 1995 there was a second impulse of getting people closer to each-other when the internet evolved with now working together being at different places In 2040 superfast internet will make it possible to visit other countries staying at home in virtual reality. Less need to fly all over the world for short trips and also more people can share there culture and connect to each-other.
Excellent education early and everywhere for our children.
Excellent education early and everywhere for our children.
It is 2040, and it is morning and anywhere, everywhere, in any spot in Europe (or the world), every child can wake up in the morning, have a good breakfast, and walk / bike / transport safely to their school, which is safe, playful, socialising, inclusive, supportive, well-supplied with materials, provides good lunches, has outside space to play, and encourages enquiring, creative, critical, systemic thinking and learning.

Clean Earth (A clean Earth)
Clean Earth (A clean Earth)
I would like to see a world where renewable energy is not a luxury anymore but is accessible to everyone independently from their economic background. I see every person, from remote to urban areas, having access to energy, heating and light. I see a world where the air is cleaner, where animals and nature thrive and climate change is not as big of a threat anymore. I also see a world whose economy is based on renewables and not fossil fuels anymore, and where countries stop making war to each other over who control petrol storages.
Logic
Logic
We are leaving in a society where the education system has focused on developing the capacity for critical thinking and logic. A capacity that was recognized to be very important especially in an era with several information channels in fierce competition. New generations have been trained in basic principles of critical thinking and this had a snowball effect in policy making
