Inside the first self-sustainable city on Mars - by ABIBOO studio
Construction of the city of Nüwa could start in 2054 and will see 250,000 people live inside the rock of a steep cliff. Freeze my body, melt me in 80 years, and send me to Mars. Architecture studio ABIBOO has revealed its plans to create the first self-sustainable city on the Red Planet, which is set to be ready for residents in 2100. The city will be called Nüwa and will be located at Tempe Mensa on one of the Martian cliffs. Its position inside a rock on the steep cliff will protect its residents from radiation and meteorites (cool!) while still giving them

#OurFutures stories by EU citizens
Life in my grandparents' time was very different from today. First of all, the pace of life was slower, and people had more direct contact with each other. There was no internet or cell phones, so communication was mainly based on letters, meetings and face-to-face conversations. Transportation was also less developed - trips took longer, and cars were a luxury available to few. Many people worked physically, and the technologies that make our lives easier today were still in their infancy.
Today we live in a world full of modern technologies that make life more convenient and efficient. Remote work, high-speed transportation and smart devices are just a few examples of the changes that have affected our daily lives. However, there have also been new challenges, such as excessive digitization and environmental problems.
In 20 years, life may look even different. We can expect further developments in technology, artificial intelligence and automation. Perhaps autonomous cars will become the norm, and work will become more flexible, allowing people to better combine work and private life. Also, medical developments may make us live longer and healthier lives. If we, as a society, pay more attention to ecology, our cities could become greener and more livable.
It is important to strive for a future in which technology serves humanity rather than restricting it. I hope that 20 years from now, people will be more aware and caring of their surroundings, which will benefit both individuals and entire communities.
People treat each other fairly and humanely. The word egoism no longer exists. There are no differences between people. Everyone has the things they need for a good life. Food, clean water, a roof over their heads, work, no financial worries, good care for the elderly and sick, an adequate healthcare system, fair pensions, no preferential treatment for civil servants and the rich. Politicians no longer receive lavish pensions for just two terms in the Bundestag. The world has managed to get a grip on its environmental problems.
weniger Sorgen, mehr Sicherheit
Traffic collapse was prevented by the presence of hyperloops and cable cars in major cities. A new invention of a foldable solar panel enables easy and fast charging of electric cars, which by further development cost no more than a normal vehicle, making driving affordable not only for the wealthy.
Since every house or residential unit generates enough solar energy, the horrendous energy costs of 2025 have also fallen and people can afford to eat again and daily shopping has also reached the pre-crisis level.
Vertical indoor farming means that fruits and vegetables can also be grown in the colder regions and, by eliminating the long transport routes, are also cheaper.
With the wise investment of a European fund, every citizen gets 1000 euros of basic assets to cover the basic needs and many people have more time to make important inventions for society and to develop existing things further.
Europe is so united on the migration question that Germany no longer bears the brunt of the refugees alone and because it is better able to take care of the individual persons, the attacks are also falling.
In times when technology will have increased life expectancy even more, the community will have ways to collaborate with older people of age in terms of less wasteful care and illnesses less deleterious to quality of life. Consequently, an eventual improvement for the lives of the sick and elderly as a result of efficiencies in facilities and machinery aimed at care , will save time that can be invested in sharing and getting individual family members to participate more and more actively in group work that is aimed at improving society. The income will not only be for living experiences and thinking about a job will not have to work too long shifts but also enjoy life at home and with friends
The most important thing is health. And this in every dimension. That is, in the most personal dimension, meaning my loved ones and my own. But what is very related - the health of the community. I would like to see epidemics disappear, and if any beginnings appear, I would like the authorities to be able to deal with it right away. Such a situation could happen when the level of medical services and the level of medicine in general would evolve to a much higher level. The availability of doctors especially specialist doctors would be much better. Medicine would be able to overcome all the currently sowing diseases of civilization. It is also important to raise the public's awareness of health issues to a much higher level. I am thinking here, for example, about vaccinations and preventive health care in general.
The world has changed. We have become more progressive, more open and much more tolerant. We have evolved in terms of building economic strength, promoting innovation and progress in general - but also in terms of humanity and tolerance.
Because there are no more wars and certainly no more weapons! These have been banned by law and their misuse made punishable. People are doing well. They are industrious and work hard - but they also appreciate and love their "freedom". Work-life balance is now properly practiced and implemented by the people. Social benefits have been reformed and partially abolished. EVERYONE has to do something for the community and make a contribution in order to be paid fairly, because nothing comes from nothing! This is important and creates community. Furthermore, the laws on violent crime have been extremely tightened, so that there is hardly any crime - and if there is, then only petty criminals. People finally feel safe again, everywhere in the world. There is peaceful co-existence between all people.
Whether I will live to see this time depends largely on medicine and my health, I hope that I will still be able to go outside in the future despite my illness and my age and that I will not be sizzled at 40⁰ or more in summer, that the garden plants will still bloom in lush colors and in a variety and the fauna will not be disturbed, people should live in peace with each other again and politicians should not be older than 67 years, because every "normal person" is sent into retirement at this age and these "...." interfere in the politics of foreign countries and only bring misfortune. Housing should be affordable and pensioners who have worked all their lives should be exempt from tax, it's a mess anyway ...
