The future belongs to all of us, and I believe it is time for us to imagine a positive and inclusive future. Let's think about 2040 and how we can create a better world for ourselves, our children and future generations.

I chose a specific topic that is important to me: the environment and climate. I want to imagine that by 2040, a powerful transition towards a more sustainable and green society has been created.

The green transition

In 2040, Europe is a leading example of how to live in harmony with nature. Plant pollution has been dramatically reduced, the air is clean and lakes are full of life.

Clean energy: all electricity generation has switched to renewable energy, such as wind, solar and hydro power. The climate has stabilized, and temperatures have returned to a natural fluctuation.
Efficiency: Buildings and products are designed to be energy efficient, minimizing resources and creating less waste. This has led to an 80% reduction in carbon emissions.
Biodiversity: Nature reserves are protected from exploitation, and the landscape is rebuilt with vegetation that supports ecosystems. Wild species have returned, and agricultural lands are more diversified to promote biodiversity.
Circular economy: the life cycle of every product is designed for reuse, recycling or degradation. This transition has reduced waste production by 90%.
Climate anxiety-free: Using technologies that can absorb and store carbon, Europe is climate anxiety-free.
An inclusive future

The green transition has also led to a more inclusive society. No individuals or groups are discriminated against because of their socio-economic background.

Economy: Equality and economic security have been achieved thanks to an increase in jobs and education, including for people with disabilities.
Social cohesion: Communities in Europe have been re-established through local initiatives and grassroots projects that promote social participation and community building.
How can we create this better future?

It is not difficult to imagine a positive future. But making it a reality requires collective commitment and a willingness to tackle the challenges we face.

Prioritize environmental and climate policies: It is time to act faster and stronger to reduce carbon emissions, protect natural systems and promote the circular economy.
Include everyone: We must address socio-economic and social challenges by strengthening equality, economic security and social cohesion.
