In 2040, the Great War in Central Europe is finally over. Minor conflicts still continue. Things have become unmanageable because of the EU bureaucracy and NATO's inefficiency after the US left the alliance. Russia managed to carve up the lands up to Germany, which occupied its former lands in Poland. Daniha lost Greenland, which was taken by the US. However, Russia had to give up some territories in the Far East to China. The EU ceased to exist, France, Spain, Italy, Portugal closed their borders to refugees from Eastern and Central Europe. Refugees from Central Asia did decrease after the US nuclear strike on Iran.

I would certainly be happy if people were nicer to each other, they would have the opportunity to not so much to download and the work would be shorter and also would not be generally more demanding and harder things will be done for us by robots and partly by artificial intelligence. Also the food would be more nutritious and hearty, thus ensuring lower starvation
