2040's EU: The true and welcoming land of opportunities

I hope and expect that our empathy for those from afar will increase in the next 20 years, and the international mobility of vulnerable people will not be as difficult and exhausting as it is today.

On the one hand, I would like 2040 to be a year in which those who are forced to flee their homes due to human or climatic catastrophes do not face unnecessary obstacles in their flight, resulting from prejudice and discrimination. I close my eyes and I see reception centres which respect and promote human rights, politicians that do not trade with border control measures, administrations that protect vulnerable people, laws that do not curtail human rights under any pretext or justification, and judicial systems that do not deviate from such red lines.

In addition, I also hope that those who cannot develop their full potential in their home country will be able to access the facilities we have in Europe, either to bring that talent back home or to stay in the EU. At present, the legal pathways to access the EU territory are mainly focused on people with higher education, entrepreneurs or people with some purchasing power. However, I believe that the ideal is to open up more circular migration channels through which those who do not have much can have a better future. This is not only "in our interest" because it would reduce irregular immigration, but I believe it should be an obligation, as a significant world power.

In my vision of an ideal 2040, mobility should be open to all - not a headache for those who need to flee or a utopia for those who cannot afford it.

Une France aux français
Laws have changed and hardened. Not all people born in France are automatically French. They take the nationality of their great-grandparents, and also all the descendants, which reduces the population of foreigners and let the French live in their country quietly and without fear, or to be raped, robbed or assaulted. Life would be more peaceful, the streets would become clean again, the people polite. All acts of incivility are punished, such as coughing without putting your hand, or throwing waste on the floor, buying in bulk or bringing back containers, which would reduce waste.

There are no more nation states. A world government controls the most important subject areas for every human being equally, without prejudicing or discriminating against any area, any continent, any religion. No one in the world has to go hungry or worse: Suffering from thirst. In every country there are countless centers where people have access to the knowledge of humanity, in the form of books, images, sounds, music, films, files and and and. An intelligent system of computers, data centers, public offices, etc. pp. ensures that the knowledge just described is not distorted, distorted or even destroyed. Many diseases that still plague humanity at present (2025) have either been "exterminated" or reduced to a minimum. The rights of ethnic minorities are not suppressed. It is possible to travel virtually, not only to all desired areas on this earth, but also back in time. In 2040, they had cars that don't need gasoline, but will work on electricity, and everything will be avomtatitzed at all. Something will probably change about the exploration of the universe and the worlds around us. I wish there were no wars, but that's not going to happen. I think we're going to live in such a polluted world in 2040 that it's going to be pretty bad. Social disparities will increase, there will be too many people in the world, so I'm worried about how it will be. Artificial intelligence will be everywhere in our lives. It will probably have a negative impact on all of us, there will certainly be no greater prosperity. I imagine that everything goes to hell if we don't fundamentally change our relationship with the Earth and the environment. I'll be gone, but I'm worried about future generations.

Demokrati och rättigheter
By 2040, there will be no war in Europe. Everyone has an open dialogue with other countries and all countries in Europe are democracies where regular elections are held. There is freedom for people to move across borders. There are many opportunities for jobs and to develop. There is the freedom to express one's opinion even if not everyone likes it. In addition, there are strict enough laws for harsh crimes against people such as rape and murder. Children's rights are respected and corruption is something that does not exist and also something that is not tolerated.
