The Future of Work in 2040

In 2040, work is no longer about survival—it’s about purpose. The old 9-to-5 grind is a thing of the past. Technology and artificial intelligence have automated most repetitive tasks, allowing people to focus on creativity, problem-solving, and personal growth. Universal basic income ensures that no one has to work just to afford food or shelter. Instead, people choose careers based on passion, not necessity.

Education has adapted to this new reality. Schools no longer rely on standardized tests but focus on teaching critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and adaptability. Students learn at their own pace, assisted by AI tutors who personalize lessons to fit their strengths and interests. Lifelong learning is the norm, and switching careers is easy and encouraged.

Mental health is a priority. With flexible work schedules, people have more time for family, hobbies, and self-care. Workspaces are designed for collaboration and well-being, blending nature, technology, and human connection. Stress and burnout are rare because society values balance over profit.

This is the world I hope for—a world where work is meaningful, education is personal, and success is measured by happiness, not just productivity.

The future would be colorful and colorful, the main topics in society would be respect, empathy and communication. The environment would not be filled with competition, beauty and perfection, but by emphasizing the individuality of the individual. From materialism to minimalism, people would be accepted as they are. The company would like to address the ecological crisis in a targeted manner.

Mon rêve pour les nations
I hope that nations will have understood that borders are indispensable for the survival of peoples, and must be re-established. I also hope that the European Commission will no longer be corrupt (we can dream...) or phagocytized by a corrupt woman and her minions. I hope that the national peoples will understand that it is up to them, and only them, to decide their future. Europe is just a continent, it is the countries that matter and must be sovereign at home. I would like, when I travel, to be able to do it safely, and discover the particularities of each country, without being in a standardized universe, otherwise, what interest is there in traveling? I would like countries to protect themselves and their nationals, and we should no longer be seen as the trash can of the world, where we can send all waste, whatever it may be. Let nature, animals, be respected and no longer exploited for the benefit of a minority that sees itself as an elite.

I think that European life and people in 2040 will be completely different from what they are today. I will in principle be 86 years old, and I believe that if I go out again I will no longer recognise the places I know as they are today. With the immigration of people from communities and religions different from ours, which is growing at a very high rate, it will be necessary to share work and wealth so that everyone lives decently and intelligently. But can I still say that the future of the generations of my children, grandchildren and others anguish me a lot, and that I am not the only one who thinks so?

Utopia is important because it allows us to hope ... Let's imagine! it's spring and the small flowers, violets, pikelets, blueberries, worries..., decorate our gardens without pesticides, without fertilizer because the soil, well worked for years no longer needs all these artificial aids. And children, teenagers run into this garden. They are at peace, they are good because their parents have instilled in them the essential rules of life in society. And the school has trained them by teaching them, not, ready-made formulas that it is enough to know by heart, no, by giving them the opportunity to train in everyday life with the help of the oldest who share their knowledge. And on their plates, at meals, they eat vegetables grown near their homes by responsible farmers. No more ready-made dishes bought in the super markets, almost all of which have disappeared or, at the very least, have changed the way they sell... Utopia!!
