By 2040, I'll be almost 80 years old. It follows, of course, that I hope that elderly care will then be at a high level ….I want my children to be healthy and happy and not have a difficult life. World peace would be a great bonus, but I'm afraid that's an illusion. What did not succeed in 2000 years is …..Harmony is perhaps a better word. Solutions have been devised for a better environment and a fairer distribution of wealth would also be very pleasant. In my ideal future, cell phones would take on a smaller role. Genuine communication between people makes a big difference.

By 2040, my world will be full of sustainable and humane technology. I have always dreamed that every person could live without threats to the environment or health, so I would like to see a Europe where climate change has been overcome and well-being is for everyone. In cities, green roofs and vertical gardens produce food locally and there is no more food waste – AI accurately predicts needs. Our energy comes only from renewable sources, and the seas are clean again. People move seamlessly on electric, shared-ownership vehicles, and there is no traffic pollution. Healthcare has evolved so that diseases are effectively prevented, and everyone receives personalised care without waiting in line. Mental health is seen as important as physical health, and society supports everyone's well-being. The future in which technology and nature live in harmony is not a dream – it is a choice we made together.

Future. This is a story set there. There are trees with all fruits, flying machines, and artificial intelligence dominates the world. People have been replaced in part by robots, and the efficiency of the world has improved dramatically. For a better world wait until 2040 to have all this. Or is all this just science fiction? Who knows. We will only find out by living.
