I'd like to see a future where there's more solidarity between young and old to combat social isolation. More meeting and living spaces where different generations can mix and support each other (babysitting, life advice, IT or just spending time together).

I hope we will all work less. The 5-day workweek becomes an ancient concept of the last century. With a 3-day default workweek, I have time to visit my friends and family across Europe, by train. As the train network is increasingly developed and invested in, trains have become regular and affordable.

In 20 years the world will be more inequal than today. We did not change the fundamentals of distribution in capitalism, and climate change reduced the availablity of resources and livable places. Cleaner technology has advanced substantially, but it mostly makes a difference for the wealthiest people in the world. Most people are worse off than today. There are more refugees, more global instability and more poverty and harsh conditions in the many megacities of the world. Natural disasters claim more lives than today.

The future in 2040 will present a dynamic landscape where technology, changing family structures and cultural diversity shape social life. Navigating these shifts requires thoughtful consideration of ethical implications and a commitment to preserving meaningful human connections amid a rapidly evolving world.
