Jedan dan u Europi 2040. godine

Sunce se polako diže nad Zagrebom, ali grad već dugo ne spava. Lebdeći tramvaji klize tiho iznad kanala, koristeći magnetne tračnice kako bi prevozili putnike bez buke i zagađenja. Ljudi hodaju ulicama obasjanim solarnim lampama, a zrak je svjež – nešto nezamislivo prije dvadeset godina, kada su zagađenje i gužve još uvijek dominirali europskim metropolama.

Započinjem svoj dan u pametnoj kući, gdje umjetna inteligencija prilagođava temperaturu, predlaže doručak temeljen na njezinim prehrambenim potrebama i rezervira samovozeći taksi na vodik za njezin put do posla. Radim u Europskom institutu za klimatsku stabilizaciju, gdje njezin tim nadzire „klimatske štitove“ – inovativne satelite koji reguliraju temperaturu Zemlje i smanjuju učinke globalnog zatopljenja.

Granice među državama više nisu prepreka – ljudi slobodno putuju zahvaljujući jedinstvenoj digitalnoj identifikaciji i univerzalnom građanstvu EU-a.

Nakon posla odlazim u futuristički restoran gdje roboti kuhari pripremaju obrok od lokalnih, laboratorijski uzgojenih sastojaka. Hrana je održiva, ukusna i nutritivno prilagođena svakom gostu.

Dok šećem kući kroz park prepun drveća koja upijaju CO2 i pretvaraju ga u čisti kisik, osjećam ponos. Europa 2040. godine nije samo tehnološki napredna – postala je održivo, humano društvo gdje priroda i ljudi žive u harmoniji.

I have grown older. Together with my partner, I fulfilled my dream of building another house - after all, there was still room in the garden of the old house! I would like to see threats of global warming has been taken seriously and measures to halt its progression is in full force. I would also like to see either IQ tests or common sense tests for people, in charge of government. I also hope religion not to have such a strong hold over weak minds.
