A Day in the Europe of the Future - Year 2040

The sun rises over a green city where tall trees line the streets and solar panels cover the roofs of both old and new buildings. I step out the door and see that the sidewalk is filled with people and dogs, all on their way to today's adventure. By 2040, Europe is a place where nature and technology work together to create a sustainable and harmonious world.

Since 2025, major changes have taken place. Fossil fuels are almost completely gone, and means of transport are powered by renewable energy. Smart bike paths and electric trains have made it easy to travel between countries, and I can cycle smoothly from Uddebo to Denmark without having to worry about dangerous car roads. Windbreaks and small eco-buildings can be found along the way for travelling outdoor enthusiasts and their four-legged friends.

Dog ownership has also changed. Thanks to better training and accessible training, dogs are now welcome in more places, and public spaces are adapted for both humans and animals. The dog care profession has become an established and respected profession, and I work to educate both dogs and their owners to create better relationships and understanding.

In this future, we have taken care of our planet, our animals and each other. Life feels freer, simpler and more sustainable – just like I always dreamed of.
