For a better sustainable governance in Europe and in the World

In 2040, the world will be a completely different place: climate change and biodiversity loss will have huge consequences on the societies in "third world countries", but also in industrialized countries with higher standard of living. Droughts, the rising of sea levels and forests fires will have a major impact on the world's GDP. This is why the United Nations will decide to suggest an upheaval of its climate governance: the outcomes of the Conference of the Parties (COPs) based on the UNFCCC will be binding. The IPCC will have a bigger role of advisors. The International Monetary Funds (IMF) will be turned into a "climate bank" on the model of the European Investment Bank and will lend money to countries which suffer the most from climate change. This money will tackle asymmetric schocks and will be used for climate change mitigation projects. Finally, all the major UN agencies, like the World Trade Organization, will work closer together to abide by the UN sustainability goals.

In Europe, a more integrated Europe will be a leader on the world stage to underpin this new climate governance. The European Green Deal will enable the EU to turn its economy into a greener one with very high value added. Thanks to comprehensive policies related to the development of renewable energies, energy efficiency and mitigation of greenhouse gases, the objective of climate neutrality is within reach by 2050. A European government with a stronger European Parliament will a have a decisive say on the global climate governance and will push for more ambitious policies throughout the world. The possibility of imposing sanctions to countries which don't respect the principles of the climate governance.

Those massive changes would have never happened without the huge mobilization of the civil society all around the world, not only in Europe and North America, but also in mediatically less exposed countries in Africa, Asia, and Oceania.

Viver apenas com orgulho
I woke up feeling that today's work was going to be spectacular. Fortunately, now everyone works because they like it and not because they have to. I don't even want to imagine what it was like in 2025 when everyone had to work in order to eat, have fun or simply live. I give thanks to those who have managed to make everyone choose what they like to be, what they like to do, and they don't even need to be paid for it. Today everything is paid for by the system, what we want we have, we don't have any difficulties and with this there is no crime, there is happiness and as we manage to be what we like, humanity grows more and more, because everything we do is perfect, it comes from the heart, from commitment and from pride. We have become creative beings and human creation has no limits. Today I'm going to improve life in the world, because nothing is so good that it can't be improved. Today I'm going to be myself, because I'm allowed to be, because I wanted to be. Living in 2040 has been the best experience ever.

2040s
By 2040, I envision a world where the fight against climate change has been successful. Fossil fuels have been replaced by clean energy, with smart grids and advanced batteries providing the energy supply. Transport is electric and autonomous, cities are dominated by green roofs and self-sustaining buildings. Agriculture is sustainable, with vertical farms and precision technologies reducing environmental pressures. Healthcare is preventive and personalised, with artificial intelligence helping to detect diseases early. Work and education are digitised, with access to knowledge and opportunities for all. Automation does not take away work, but creates more creative, human-centred occupations. We live in a cleaner, fairer and more liveable world where technology and nature work in harmony.

Пътуване към бъдещето
If we imagine 2040, I would choose to focus on the problem of environmental change and sustainable development. In 2040, I would like to see a world in which humans have managed to overcome the ecological crisis and create a sustainable, harmonious future for the planet and all its inhabitants.

The year is 2040 and Europe is a very different place. Instead of crowded roads, castles have become silent and peaceful marvels of technology. Self-driving and autonomous vehicles drive us through green castles, but the air is clean. Renewable sources of energy are rapidly replacing fossil fuels, making the continent self-sustaining. Each building has its own solar-energy grid, and the windows are smart, automatically adjustable depending on the world and weather conditions. By 2025, there will be a major economic and ecological leap forward. European countries are fighting against climate change, raising standards for sustainability and technology. Greater investment in education has enabled new innovations in medicine, healthcare and display systems. By reducing CO2 emissions, buildings have become areas where people live in balance with nature. Wanderings are a set of trends in enjoyment. With virtual reality technology, you can visit all corners of the world without leaving your home. But, at the same time, personal relationships have become easier, with digital platforms that allow instant communication with anyone, anywhere. The future is coming, and we are its creators.
