I would like to see improvement in acceptance and gender equality. I would like for every EU country to legalise gay marriage, to legalise adoption by gay couples, and to take steps towards making society more accepting and inclusive of minorities. I would also like to see change in the way we treat violence against women. The internet and technology advance much faster than our legal systems and with that come even more threats against women and other marginalised communities. We need to make the real world safe and we need to make the online world safe too. In 2040 I want to walk in the streets of EU countries any time of day or night, as a woman, and never feel afraid for my safety. I also want to know that if anyone harasses me online they will receve consequences.
This starts from education from a young age, teaching kids about consent and actively trying to help them understand that they have no right over someone else's body. And it goes all the way to better protecting the streets, training the police to respond properly to such situations, and to restructure the justice system so women don't feel afraid to speak up and take action against their abusers.
