In 2040, Europe became a continent united politically, socially and technologically. After decades of climate crises, geopolitical tensions and inequalities, a new generation of leaders, scientists and citizens has transformed the European Union into an advanced federation, based on cooperation, sustainability and innovation.

Energy is entirely renewable, thanks to a huge network of orbiting solar panels and fusion power plants, and artificial intelligence regulates resource consumption, avoiding waste and ensuring fairness. Every citizen has access to a fair European digital currency, which fosters collaboration instead of unbridled competition.

In this scenario, the protagonist Gaia is a young Italian engineer specializing in biomedicine, who moves to Berlin to work on the GaiaNet project, a network of interconnected green cities, capable of adapting to climate change and hosting multicultural communities without borders. But when a flaw in management systems threatens to tilt the entire urban ecosystem, his team must find out if it is a mistake or sabotage by those who want to bring the world back to the fragmentation of the past.

In the end the protagonist discovers that the biggest challenge is not only to solve the technical problem, but to convince everyone that the future of cooperation, peace and sustainability for which they have worked is really possible.

I would hope that the future for my children and grandchildren is bright in every sense. The quality of life could be significantly better and more affordable. At the moment, a large percentage are struggling just to survive but in the future, wages, living standards, education, health could be better, easier and more affordable. In Europe, fortunately, it's been 12 years without wars, peace is fairly stable thanks to full EU consolidation. The traditional TV sets, film festivals and many of the old entertainment programs have been consigned to history. Several times a month we meet in theater/concert halls for various "live" performances. The integration of multiple information systems has led to rapid health monitoring. Every day at a certain time, everyone sends information about their health parameters. In case of concern, the system asks for an in-depth analysis and, if necessary, sends a doctor to your home or transportation to a health facility. Many cultural and educational initiatives promote direct social integration. Social and "drone" transportation is great, the number of traditional cars is drastically decreasing, another 10 years and we will see them in museums and movies.

I may no longer be of this world, but for my children and grandchildren, I would like peace in this world, no wars, no attacks. I'd like to see a world full of good things, where the climate is restored to the way it used to be, where there are no more homeless people, and where everyone has enough to eat.

But you shouldn't lump everyone together, that's unfair to everyone who is honestly happy to live and work in Germany. The big problem will simply be to find a healthy middle ground. To sum up, the task is certainly not easy, but there must be ways to achieve this.
