In 2040, I'm 85 years old, I don't care much about the future anymore, because as I get older, I lose my strength. Everything around me is changing so fast that I can no longer handle new technologies and must be helped by my grandchildren or great-grandchildren if they find time for me. Fortunately, since 2025, no wars have arisen in my vicinity, humanity seems to have become wiser or lazy, and everyone is playing on their own sand. The dream of a great Europe has vanished, yet we are somewhat different and also have different historical experiences. The warming of the Earth has stopped, so the heat is no longer tiring. Since nature managed to recover, straightened watercourses returned to the original meanders, drenched meadows left at the mercy of mosquitoes and other vermin, life is better. I am glad that I lived through these times, even though my health and legs no longer serve me. I am delighted with my offspring who thrive and only hear of the old days when there was no freedom.

A better future... We drive electric cars, and electricity to them is provided by wind and nuclear power plants. Non-organic plastic replaced glass, in a garbage incineration plant with efficient filters made waste pits finally unnecessary. The air in Polish cities is suitable for breathing even in winter, and in summer we are not afraid of drought and lack of water. And instead of arming, we spend money on health protection and equal opportunities for children and adolescents. All this may be possible, but I'll put it between the fairy tales...

I would like to see a future where there has been a major change for the benefit of the environment and the future of the planet. Solar, wind and hydropower have replaced fossil energy sources. Buildings, houses, etc. are equipped to be self-sufficient both in terms of energy and, for example, basic raw materials such as potatoes and the like. Public transport has switched entirely to electric vehicles and there are incredible high-speed trains that can compete with flights between major cities.
