Less technology & more community - via a secondary monetary system and stricter laws on social media

Climate crisis and corona all point to the way of over-exploitation of our planet and the creatures on it. The first lockdown created a brief pause but of late everything has seemed to return to the old stressful way of life, with highways once again full of trucks and cars. Nothing seems to stop the rat race, if only because "it's all about the economy" - even if it's at the detriment of our health and the planet. We're all hostages of neoliberalism and the Stockholm syndrome isn't being healed. That needs to stop. It must. One sad aspect is how the over reliance on technology has created havoc. Cambridge Analytica & Trump have shown us how social media can be turned evil ; more needs to be done in that respect, beyond GDPR, to protect our democracies. Moreover, Silicon Valley distrupters and other lobbyists have enriched themselves while causing chaos and profound unhappiness. Yet people like Richard Wilkinson, Rutger Bregman and the late Bernard Lietaer have already pointed to the solution : more equality, a better distribution of wealth, companies paying their taxes like everyone else. Key in this vision is not "universal income" however, if only because it's taboo for a lot of politicians. A better way of realising change is starting with a secondary monetary system as Bernard Lietaer has recommended. Because the euro and the dollar etc. are about sarcity and stranglehold (hostage holders & lobbyists), while a secondary coin will liberate energy and cooperation. Essential in averting the climate crisis and repairing floods. This can only go hand in hand with more participation & deliberative democracy. G1000 was a good start but we need to go further if we want change - because politics is at the merci of lobbyism & sectarianism.

The future would be colourful and varied, with respect, empathy and communication being the main themes in society. The environment would not be filled with competition, beauty and perfection, but with the individuality of the individual. There would be a shift from materialism to minimalism, people would be accepted as they are. Society would want to address the ecological crisis head-on.
