By now it was late and we had to take refuge in the caves quickly before the enemies could attack us. It was the only chance. In the caves we would have been safe, the enemy's electronic systems could not overcome the barrier of our defense systems. Electronic also these, but much more powerful as long as used within that space. By now the planet was divided into only two peoples: those outside, technologically more backward, who used GPS and drones but who otherwise were dressed and housed like our ancestors of the last century, and searched for us with automatic and armored weapons; and us inside, covered with skins and rags, but assisted by the power of Artificial Intelligence. We ate worms and roots, we looked like Neanderthals, but we handled the most sophisticated instruments without the slightest difficulty (or perhaps it is better to say that they handled us). In short, the world was divided between hypertechnological primitives and evolved but not very technological humans. The big question that we always asked ourselves, and that maybe even those who read these few lines could ask themselves, is who would have prevailed. It would have been better if human evolution and technological progress had gone together. But - as has all too often happened in human history - something had gone wrong.
