Migration has led to many political problems and disputes within our EU in recent years and has strongly criticised inhumane measures. For the future, I would therefore like Europe to find a common solution to the problems of European refugee policy.
In a better future, citizens should be better understood through education. Prejudices, such as the fact that migrants take jobs away from the local population, show that much false knowledge is widespread and makes integration more difficult.
In addition, refugee policy should be made more humane in the future and safe routes should be created. I would like to see migrants able to apply for asylum from their country of origin and then to flee to Europe by safe means of transport instead of embarking on a life-threatening journey through the Mediterranean Sea.
I would also like the European Member States to cooperate better with each other. The Dublin Agreement should be replaced by a common asylum procedure to ensure that migrants are fairly distributed in all countries and that primary countries of arrival, such as the Mediterranean region, no longer have to accept all refugees and process asylum applications.
To sum up, I want Europe to become a more migration-friendly country in the future, because in a continent with negative population growth, we need migration to maintain the intergenerational contract and ensure our long-term economic prosperity. Successful refugee policy and integration are key to success.
