2040 is running. We are in Andalusia, a newly created republic that functions economically, socially and culturally as a private, self-contained region. The representatives of this region have excellent diplomatic relations with their neighbours, the other smaller regions. It has no impatience, no resentment, no envy and no false moves. The Homeland is focused on the needs of the people and works hard for the benefit of society. The biggest promise is in the economy. Large companies (companies with over 500 employees) are banned. The basis of the economy is agriculture, zanati, cultural tourism in the smaller community. The real issue is the growth of the economy. The rule is that the owner of a company cannot live more than 6 days away from the last owner. New gardens and schools are being built in the region every year, and a great deal of attention is being paid to various adult education programmes. Certain major issues are decided by referendum. The Mayor is elected every 4 years and the highest representative can only hold office for 5 years. Castles, towns and villages pay great attention to energy efficiency, so wind turbines are built and solar panels are used. There is a growing solidarity between people and the honour of spending a certain number of days a year volunteering in hospitals, schools and the environment.

People are working and can afford to buy houses and cars. there has not been a single shooting in 2 years. Productivity in society has increased. Sweden has never been this successful ever. The population of Sweden is 15 million several big cities are built the municipal traffic is faster. And we have planted lots of forest so Sweden is green and beautiful. Sweden has strengthened defense strict borders. Gang crime no longer exists and you have the right to freedom of expression again. Electricity is produced by nuclear power and ways have been found to recycle uranium for sustainable electricity production. We have also produced fewer cars and invested more in public transportation. Sweden is more free and you get a better education in school and kids who are messy get detention again as it was before

Vuonna 2040 Venäjä on hajonnut pienemmiksi valtioiksi ja Kiinaan on tullut demokratia. Tätä ennen Venäjällä on käyty sota, joka on johtanut valmiuden kohottamiseen ja pieniin rajakahakoihin myös Suomen rajan tuntumassa. Maailmansota pystyttiin kuitenkin välttämään. Eurooppa on kyennyt keventämään innovaatioita tukahduttavaa säätelyä ja yhteismarkkinat edut ovat tuoneet uutta hyvinvointia koko alueelle. Avaruusturismi on edelleen utopiaa, mutta siitä haaveillaan. Tekoäly on vähentänyt työvoiman tarvetta aivan kuten tietokoneet tai internet aikoinaan. Yhteiskunnan kipukohtana on, että huippuosaajat pärjäävät hyvin, mutta vähemmän kyvykkäille on yhä vähemmän työmahdollisuuksia ja he passivoituvat. Poliittisista syistä perustuloon ei ole kuitenkaan päädytty ja asia on paljon lehtien palstoilla. Maahanmuutto on vähentynyt ja väestökehitys on stabiloitunut. Uhkakuvien keskellä koen, että jo työuran loppupuolella olen yrittäjyyden ja ahkeruuden ansiosta taloudellisesti turvallisessa asemassa ja lapseni pärjäävät muuttuneessa maailmassa hyvin. Tulevaisuus ei näytä ongelmattomalle, mutta katastrofit on, kuten ennenkin, onnistuttu välttämään.
