Sota Ukrainassa oli loppunut 2025. Rauhassa venäjä oli sitoutunut sotakorvauksiin ja vetäytynyt omien rajojensa sisään. Populistien suosio oli samaan aikaan laskussa ja ihmiset eivät enää olleet hyväuskoisina hölmöinä luottamassa katteettomiin lupauksiin ja valheisiin. Trump oli sairastunut v. 2025 ja USA:ssa hänen hallintonsa rikokset paljastuneet ja johtaneet uusiin vaaleihin. Kauppasuhteet maailmassa olivat palanneet rauhan aikaan ja ihmisoikeuksia kunnioitettiin entistä paremmin. Myös palestiinalaisten asema oli parantunut oman valtion myötä 2026.
Tavallisten ihmisten elämää oli parantanut tekoälyn luoma vallankumous. Internetin hakukoneiden valta oli murentunut haun hajaannuttua pienille palvelimille ja avoimiin ohjelmiin. Teollisuusautomaatio oli kokenut harppauksen ja tuotanto vaati entistäkin vähemmän työvoimaa. Monissa maissa lyhennettiinkin työaikaa ja ihmiset käyttivät lisääntynyttä vapaa-aikaansa erilaisiin harrastuksiin ja opiskeluun. Matkustus oli vähentynyt jonkin verran ja hidas matkanteko purjelaivoilla ja aurinkojunilla oli muodissa.
Ihmisten eriarvoisuus oli vähentynyt. Äärimmäisiä rikkauksia ja niiden avulla vallan käyttämistä suitsittiin laeilla ja säännöksillä. Liika kulutus oli mennyt pois muodista ja kohtuullisuus kaikenkaikkiaan oli suosittua. Energia tuotettiin suurelta osin tuuli- ja aurinkovoimalla, ydinenergiaakin käytettiin. Mitään kovin uusia energianlähteitä ei vielä ollut kehitetty, mutta entisten hyötysuhdetta ja energian säästöä oli parannettu huimasti. Luontoa yritettiin ennallistaa, mutta liian suuri väestömäärä rajoitti edelleen palauitumista.
Kaiken kaikkiaan elämä oli suunnilleen samanlaista kuin 15 vuotta aiemmin, vain paljon rauhallisempaa ja järkevämpää.

School education needs to be completely overhauled, it can't go on like this. Cell phones do not belong in the classroom. People who look after people in a private atmosphere, be it children, the sick or the elderly, must be given credit for their time. The same applies to voluntary work in clubs, the fire department, etc. Everything must be distributed more fairly, then neither greed nor envy will arise. We should also pay more attention to the fact that the food industry is pushing food that makes us ill, which is really impossible. All in all, we should work more again, then we won't have bad thoughts. All problems are self-made.
