I see a future free of war, where people care for each other - where economy and prosperity are important but also the protection of our planet and the biosphere as a whole is a significant priority.
I also see (hope for) a future free of too much daily involvement of people with social media, that instead have been transformed to globalized liberal (not for profit) platforms of circulating ideas and democracy.
People at 2040 have started thinking (I hope) the idea of Gaia and our planet as a self-controlled, harmonic, and interactive complex of biological and non-biological worlds that we should care about.

The Ukraine war and Trump's government have shaken the Europeans awake. Peace was imposed on Ukraine, Nato membership was prevented by the USA and admission to the EC was completed. The EC founded a joint army and stationed part of it in Ukraine. The bureaucracy was radically simplified, applications must be completed within 6 months at the latest. Great Britain is back in the EC. Decisions by the Council of Europe require 60 percent approval. The blockade attitude of individual states no longer exists.

It would be nice if it were possible to determine at birth whether a child is likely to have serious illnesses that can then be eradicated immediately.

It would be nice if religions no longer played a role. Because there are wars because of religion. Wars that can be prevented.

In fact, I think the future is horrible; I'd like to go back to the real values of the 1970s and 1980s; I'd like a world without war, without violence, where people appreciate each other; I'd like to go back to a less technological world, while keeping the good sides of this technology, the useful side, but without scam, spam, with real encounters, not virtual ones.I'd like to rediscover love between humans, not this dehumanization where machines replace human contact.

For me, the future would be a world without war, with everyone getting on well, everyone getting enough to eat, no more fatal diseases in the foreseeable future thanks to advances in medicine, artificial intelligence and so on, tightly controlled immigration and the lifelong sheltering of all these criminals.
