En 2040, la vie est paisible en Europe, tout le monde sourit, il n'y a aucune agressivité, dans aucun pays. S'il y a des soucis entre des gens, il y aura des personnes qui seront chargés de régler à l'amiable les problèmes, et tout sera simple. Il y aura de la liberté d'expression, du respect des idées de chacun.

It is 23 June 2040. Summer is in full swing: lush green all around, countless birds are singing, the meadows are full of flowers again, just like in my childhood, and bees and other insects are buzzing around. In towns and in the countryside, people near and far have come together to celebrate Midsummer by lighting bonfires, playing games, singing Ligo songs and dancing dances on Midsummer's Eve. This tradition, passed down from generation to generation, is still alive, and it is a pleasure to see that gradually people of other ethnicities who have made their homes with us have also joined in the celebrations, and on this day, more than others, understand why we are the way we are, and what we hold dear. Midsummer night is crisp and dew covers the ground, as the very dry and dry days of summer are yet to come and it seems incredible that in just a few months the ground will again be covered with a thick layer of white snow. People seem to be less happy now. Times are changing and everyone is freer to be who they want to be, to do what their heart is in and to raise a family without worrying about the turmoil around them, how to pay the bills, buy food, buy a home, or what it will be like to grow old. We are one big family again and no neighbour is a stranger. We look after everyone in our neighbourhood and know that if we need them, they will look after us. We realise that everything in the world is connected, we are wiser, with more zeal and idealism. We believe in ourselves and trust in each other.

I wish that by then there would be more nature. That it is forbidden to brick front gardens, that people who have houses and gardens should provide more greenery. That a forest, a park is within walking or biking distance. That the car is banned more from cities, but can still have a place on the outskirts of the city. That so there are free buses or cheap public transportation that goes to the city. So that people also seek more connection with nature, go for walks and just have the benefits of nature.

I envision a better future for myself by having my own company and earning as much money as I can to live a normal life then, and enjoying my life while still healthy and having time to pursue my interests and devote to my family. I think that in 2040 it will be very different, I think that all cars will be electric, industiry will continue to develop, healthcare will be automated, and we will have robots cooking for us. What I want most of all are cars that we do not have to drive, we just choose where we want to go and the car takes us there.
