2050. Sunrise over Rome's Old Town paints the sky a soft orange colour. The city wakes quietly, but already the whisper of electric vehicles and the light gust of wind carrying the salt of the Mediterranean can be heard.

Europe has changed dramatically in the last 25 years. The climate crisis has forced countries to focus on renewable energy, and cities have become greener, with polluting cars virtually disappearing from the streets, replaced by autonomous electric cars and bicycles. Food production has also changed: vertical farms have solved product shortages and lab-grown meat has become a common choice.

Today, my plans include a quick trip to Paris on the hyper-trains that now connect all Europe's major cities. The journey will take just an hour - time for a cup of coffee and a short chat with friends via hologram. Life has become more convenient, but have people become happier? That's what we're still looking for.

Vuonna 2040
I ride my hydrogen-powered bicycle all over Finland. Relatives, sights, experiences. I have met many people on similar bicycles on my journey. A great feeling of togetherness! We have remembered the time when similar journeys were made on electrified bikes. They have not been used for years. Hydrogen has replaced the use of electricity worldwide - despite the opposition of oil-producing countries. Cars, trains and other means of transport are now hydrogen-powered. With new, environmentally friendly technologies, I have started to travel abroad again. The development that started in Finland is most clearly visible in Europe. People seem to have regained their zest for life. Optimism has taken over. This is most evident in Africa, where food is being prepared in a way that takes account of the changes brought about by climate change. New varieties have been developed that can cope with less water, erosion has been corrected by planting trees and shrubs. The global shift towards plant-rich food is also reflected here in large green areas. In turn, basic livelihood security has brought greater peace. Weapons still exist, but their intensity effectively limits their use and increases the risk of conflict.

Energetika
That the energy crisis will finally be solved, that we will stop using fossil fuels, that we will abandon nuclear power plants and not rely so much on renewable energy sources, because their power cannot be regulated so much. That fusion reactors will finally be put into operation - energy from the stars. And then transportation for electricity would be easy and cheap, thus cheap for everyone.

Zkrátka ideál
In the future of 2040, I would like to see most of the diseases that humanity suffers from disappear. If an individual becomes infected with something, they will be able to cure themselves at home. More work will be done by machines and artificial intelligence, and people will have more time to meet and spend time together. They will be able to invest the spare time they have in conservation, growing flowers, planting new forests. Children are taught more social skills in school or practical things like how to take care of nature. They learn to grow crops, plants and enjoy seeing everything bloom and grow. They are no longer interested in telephones and television, but like to take care of nature.

Mars
We will live on another planet, probably Mars, it will be like Earth but much better there will be trees and houses for everyone and everyone will have everything it will be a perfect world. Because on earth it will not be possible to live anymore because of climate change and water shortage, so there will be no other option. And of course there will be flying cars and robots everywhere
