Climate problems have brought huge impact on agriculture, crops have been modified to survive warmer temperatures, genetic modification improve disease control and output tonnage, but at the cost of traditional small farm agriculture. Huge global companies were the ones able to raise the capital to build intensive food production, using less land space, water controls, food cost have reduced but controled by the few large companies, at expensive of family farms. Rural populations, without income, flock to cities in search of income, bringing problems expensive housing, civil disturbance, competing with refugees prepared to work for lower income. The new foods taste better and more nutritious, but only to those that can afford it, mass protesting and blaming governments for allowing this problem. People think how thing were much better in "the good old days".
