I hope for a future where all kinds of people can be embraced. Growing up Black in a majority white community, I had to justify my existence from a very young age. A harmless question like "Where are you from?" confused me. I would answer by confidently naming this country I had visited for three weeks when I was three years old. And that was before I felt the stereotypes affect me. I was shy, quiet intelligent young boy. Nothing about this was unusually to me until my adolescence. Apparently I was supposed to be a loud obnoxious troublemaker. And the most confounding of all, was those who saw people like me as dumb. I've gone off on a bit off a tangent, however there is no way to predict the future without discussing the past. I hope the kids of 2040 are embraced for their differences. I hope they can live their lives exactly as they want. I hope society rethinks its desire for us to only be one thing. To only present in one way.
