A day in Europe in 2050

The sun rises over the floating city of NeoAtlantis, an ecological engineering masterpiece designed after the rising waters of the 2030s. The Green Deal of 2040 enabled the regeneration of forests, the depollution of oceans and the development of vertical urban farms. Thanks to technological advances, everyone works less, leaving more time for education, art and solidarity.

At the end of the day, I meet my friends in a café where vegetable protein dishes are printed in 3D. We are discussing new citizen projects to further improve our daily lives. The future we have built together is finally sustainable and fair.

I believe that our planet will still exist and on it our picturesque Slovakia will remain Slovak and on the map not only in the history textbook, so that our children will perceive it only as a memory of the history of their parents. 2040 - there is no smog in the air, there are no illegal immigrants on the streets and it is safe. The climate has stopped warming and we have normal winters with snow. Medical care is at such a level that we already have a cure for cancer. No new coronaviruses have emerged for many years and people are living longer. In Ukraine there was peace, the eastern part was incorporated into Russia and the remaining part was admitted to the European Union and NATO troops are stationed on its territory. The Lviv region was incorporated into Poland and exhumations and burials of thousands of Poles killed by Ukrainians 100 years ago began there. In Poland, three nuclear power plants were built and as a result, coal-fired power plants were shut down and coal mines reduced. The UK once again became a member of the European Union and free elections were held in Belarus. On the ground landed a spaceship with cosmonauts who two years earlier landed on Mars.
