Europe has a relatively open border system. The nation states still exist and their independence is still fully intact in most areas. In defense, a pan-European stance will also protect European economic interests. The people of Europe are trying to intensify common ground in order to strengthen and protect Europe's status.

In 2040 many jobs will be replaced or helped by technology, this means less time will be needed to do them. I would like to see us be able to divide the work among the same number of people, so that no one is left jobless, but give a lighter work schedule (half of today's) to everyone.

Every human being is valuable regardless of his or her nationality, age, level of education, etc. The state has high social guarantees. The unemployment rate is very low. The tax system is benevolent to the population. Income tax 15%, VAT max 18%. Maximum 4 working days per week. Free medical care, free higher education. Public transport is free. Utilities are cheap. Borders are open, people can travel where they want. There is no threat of war, there are no wars in the world.

I don't know because I'm 68. In 15 years, I may not be around to know whether 2040 will be the future. Let's remain optimistic, but in 2040, at 83, my life is behind me. I'm thinking of my son, his family and, above all, my grandchildren. Will France still be a democracy? Has the Great Replacement begun? Has war devastated Europe? No, none of this: people have mellowed, our leaders have found solutions for a peaceful world, the ecological revolution is beginning to bear fruit, and the world is calmer and more serene. My grandchildren are flourishing in their work and in their lives. Their future looks bright.
