Ukrainan sota havahdutti Euroopan valtion ymmärtämään yhtenäisyyden merkityksen sekä päätöksenteon nopeuden ja sujuvuuden tärkeyden. Euroopan Unionin jäsenvaltiot lakkasivat keskittymästä vain omille maille hankittavien etuuksien haalimisesta ja alkoivat suunnata tarmonsa koko Euroopan hyvinvoinnin kehittämiseen. Prosessi osoittautui hitaaksi, mutta Neuvostoliiton aikaisten johtajien vähitellen poistuttua hallinnosta, vuoteen 2040 mennessä ollaan otettu jo huomattavia edistysaskeleita. Uusiutuvien energiamuotojen hyödyntämiseen liittyvissä teknologioissa tehdyt harppaukset ovat tehneet Euroopasta paitsi kokonaisuudessaan vapaan fossiilisesta energiasta myös omavaraisen energian suhteen.
