Inside the first self-sustainable city on Mars - by ABIBOO studio
Construction of the city of Nüwa could start in 2054 and will see 250,000 people live inside the rock of a steep cliff. Freeze my body, melt me in 80 years, and send me to Mars. Architecture studio ABIBOO has revealed its plans to create the first self-sustainable city on the Red Planet, which is set to be ready for residents in 2100. The city will be called Nüwa and will be located at Tempe Mensa on one of the Martian cliffs. Its position inside a rock on the steep cliff will protect its residents from radiation and meteorites (cool!) while still giving them

#OurFutures stories by EU citizens
Tutta la mia esistenza e alla mia sofferenza, che condivido con milioni di altri europei.
2050 finally sees the beginning of the United States of Europe, the States as we have known them still exist with their ethnic groups and their ethnic minorities, but their institutions are present only at the level of local government management, from now on the legislation is made at the central level and in Europe we all pay the same taxes and receive the usual salary. The cap that has been placed on the salaries of our representatives and menegers has made it possible to improve welfare and health care is free for all. At the same time, a single tax regulation has meant that companies no longer leave our territories, indeed some concessions are bringing some companies close to their lands of origin. It certainly helped the law that imposed a well-distributed number of nuclear power plants in all territories, but above all it helped to flank these hydrogen production plants. Now the extra energy is no longer wasted and hydrogen is inserted into the methane pipelines helping us to pollute less.
But it is finally with hydrogen/methane cars, and fullcell that we have made Europe clean, in fact it has allowed us to avoid destroying nature with the accumulation of all those useless and heavy batteries, which only to be made forced us to disfigure our countries with quarries and mines to the point that it had become a mess.
Finally, our industries, including hydrogen, methane and nuclear, no longer need to use oil so much.
This has also made us independent of other strange "powers" and we can finally cultivate our economy by cooperating with them on an equal footing.
This has made all our industry independent, even the military one, and having finally created a European army has finally given a real imposition as a territorial reality, of what we are ..., no longer a land of "conquest", to those who have joined now is guaranteed peace and security.
It is wonderful to speak all one language, but at the same time it is also wonderful to have managed to maintain our respective languages, customs and customs that identify our different peoples.
Finally my daughter has a country to live in and not to escape from in order to work, finally my daughter has a home and like her her children will have it.
This is the Europe of the future I wanted.
“A Future Where Work Gives Life Meaning”
The Future of Work in 2040
In 2040, work is no longer about survival—it’s about purpose. The old 9-to-5 grind is a thing of the past. Technology and artificial intelligence have automated most repetitive tasks, allowing people to focus on creativity, problem-solving, and personal growth. Universal basic income ensures that no one has to work just to afford food or shelter. Instead, people choose careers based on passion, not necessity.
Education has adapted to this new reality. Schools no longer rely on standardized tests but focus on teaching critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and adaptability. Students learn at their own pace, assisted by AI tutors who personalize lessons to fit their strengths and interests. Lifelong learning is the norm, and switching careers is easy and encouraged.
Mental health is a priority. With flexible work schedules, people have more time for family, hobbies, and self-care. Workspaces are designed for collaboration and well-being, blending nature, technology, and human connection. Stress and burnout are rare because society values balance over profit.
This is the world I hope for—a world where work is meaningful, education is personal, and success is measured by happiness, not just productivity.
No future
Available housing with low mortgage rates, great public transport networks with mandatory cycling infrastructure, less spending on car centric infrastructure, leading to more healthy population and cleaner cities. Energy sourced from renewable resources. Social equality and stability, shorter work week. Support for unemployed as AI takes away a lot of jobs. Open trade and borders between EU counties, lot of tourism and work opportunities.
Thats what I would like. But most likely, russia will continue its war, while Europe cowardly doesn't do enough to help Ukraine, leading to freeze in conflict or worse. Then right wing populists come to power in many European counties, reset their trade and dependence on russian resources, which leads russia invading Baltic countries under whatever reason promoted and justified by disinformation on all social networks controlled by dictatorships in China/USA/russia. Europe does nothing, as why would we fight for small Baltic countries and cross moscow's red lines? NATO is no longer functional. Unending deep concerns and appeasement until russia stops at German border and demands back west part. That's no future.
Europe be vigilant.
An improved transport connection from Dublin Airport.
One of the biggest disappointments in Ireland for many years was the lack of a proper connection by Rail to Dublin Airport. Finally after many failed attempts, it is great to see a highly effective and efficient service up and running. For tourists coming into the capital city, they can now be in the city thanks to the new rail connection in a short space of time, which can also only be good for Tourism.
Importance of balanced life
I see myself in a small village in Slovenia. Having just finished building our house. The kids are running in the garden and having fun. My partner and I are enjoying small perks and moments. Everybody is healthy and sound. We often travel. I leave corporate job and open small homeowned bakery and pastery. The place is super cute, tiny and cozy. With right marketing and quality it becomes huge hit and success. We stop dedicating iur lifes to jobs which does not appreciate us and change us in seconds. Instead we find a way to finance life with our passions and doing it together with the family, cause no job is more important than missing time with your loved ones.
Hoop voor de toekomst
I will most likely not be around in 2050 but hope for my grandchildren that the current doomsday scenario will not come true but that they can live in a world of peace with clean air and nature. Hopefully by then Europe will not have turned into a caliphate or taken over by the Chinese. With any luck, the Russian government will have finally realized that aggression does not pay and common sense will prevail and they will also not have started a nuclear war that would lead to the destruction of the world. One has been able to successfully implement nuclear fusion by 2050 with limitless energy possibilities without nasty emissions and nuclear waste allowing us to get rid of all the landscape polluting windmills and solar farms and everything drives and runs on green hydrogen or electricity. In the fish can again swim unhindered in the North Sea. The tedious and dirty work will be performed by robots and everyone can enjoy their many free hours because the work week will be only 25 hours because of this robotization. People can also enjoy their children again because they will have enough time to keep them busy and no longer have to dump them in daycare. In fact, there will be plenty of time to do fun things and raise them into right-thinking new generations. How wonderful that would be or would it still be daydreaming?
Il mondo che vorrei....per le nuove generazioni
A zeroing of political offices, with the cancellation of all privileges gained through falsehood and corruption. A new political class that wants the good of the sovereign people. The birth of new generations unsuitable for evil and malfeasance. Generations that help each other, that extend through knowledge, through culture. Generations with the same rights and the same duties, respectful of the rules, which must not be imposed, but must be part of everyday life. No sister-in-law to the other, but a true equality of views and thought. Health care at the service of all, without prejudice and without profit on the lives of the poor. A new world... if we ever manage to keep it intact, which is very difficult.

Considering that I'll be 70 when I live to be 70 in 2040, I don't have much. I sincerely hope that by then there will be no more wars, humanity will come to its senses and live peacefully. But that is certainly not helped by technology or technical inventions. Maybe we will have already made the trip to the moon again, or maybe even humans will visit Mars. But that is also nothing, people will have to take seriously their surroundings, this beautiful planet of ours, and find faith again. Yes, faith, and to consider again even the things described in the Ten Commandments - that is the basis of everything.

Lepiej, razem
I would like to see easier access to housing in a better future. So that you don't have to collect half your life for a down-payment and pay a mortgage for the rest of your life. That it would be possible to live without worrying about "your place." I wish that in 2040 people, like in the days of our parents' youth, could get together, spend time together and that no one would feel lonely. Now everyone is a "lonely island" and social ties and friendships are increasingly degraded. I wish that in the future someone would pay attention to this problem and that there would be no need, as in the UK, to create a Ministry for Loneliness.
