Inside the first self-sustainable city on Mars - by ABIBOO studio
Construction of the city of Nüwa could start in 2054 and will see 250,000 people live inside the rock of a steep cliff. Freeze my body, melt me in 80 years, and send me to Mars. Architecture studio ABIBOO has revealed its plans to create the first self-sustainable city on the Red Planet, which is set to be ready for residents in 2100. The city will be called Nüwa and will be located at Tempe Mensa on one of the Martian cliffs. Its position inside a rock on the steep cliff will protect its residents from radiation and meteorites (cool!) while still giving them

Future
The future is uncertain, but I would like things to be different in the future. The health system to be more complex adapted to the conditions of the European Union doctors to be much better paid given the years of study behind politicians to be well prepared and useful in their job not only as a number but to group so as to adopt laws properly for the country and its development.
Eiropas nākotne
The sun is slowly rising above Europe’s unified energy network, which supplies the continent with clean and sustainable energy by 2050. Līga wakes up in her smart home in Riga, where the walls adapt to the temperature, while the windows filter the sun's rays to optimize natural lighting. A personalised diet plan tailored to her health data, connected to the European Health Network, awaits her in the kitchen.
The road to work is no longer stressful: self-driving, energy-efficient public transport vehicles transport people with zero emissions to the nearest second. Urban centres are green, they are no longer busy with traditional cars, and people prefer bicycles or autonomous capsule transport. Air pollution in Europe has almost disappeared thanks to air purification technologies and nature-friendly infrastructure.
Between 2025 and 2050, Europe underwent a major transformation. The climate crisis has made countries work more closely together than ever before. After 2035, when fossil fuels were completely banned, innovations developed rapidly, generating surplus energy and thus a new economic model in which resources are redistributed more efficiently and fairly. The introduction of universal basic income in 2040 allowed people to devote more time to creative and socially useful activities.
Līga works as a digital historian – her task is to document and analyse the development of society, so that future generations can learn from past mistakes and achieve even higher goals. She believes that 2050 is just the beginning of an even brighter future.
To Be Embraced
I hope for a future where all kinds of people can be embraced. Growing up Black in a majority white community, I had to justify my existence from a very young age. A harmless question like "Where are you from?" confused me. I would answer by confidently naming this country I had visited for three weeks when I was three years old. And that was before I felt the stereotypes affect me. I was shy, quiet intelligent young boy. Nothing about this was unusually to me until my adolescence. Apparently I was supposed to be a loud obnoxious troublemaker. And the most confounding of all, was those who saw people like me as dumb. I've gone off on a bit off a tangent, however there is no way to predict the future without discussing the past. I hope the kids of 2040 are embraced for their differences. I hope they can live their lives exactly as they want. I hope society rethinks its desire for us to only be one thing. To only present in one way.
J'ai beaucoup rêvé cette nuit.
I'm still alive in 2040.
Despite my old age, despite my heart failure and my multiple frailties.
Thanks to advances in gene therapy in particular.
The world has changed, in a much more favorable sense than I could have imagined in 2025. The dictatorial excesses that we saw then multiply, to the point of resigning themselves to the inevitable, the third world war, have one after the other disappeared in five years: Putin was swept away in Russia, Trump was impeached for proven mental illness, and new early elections brought more reasonable people back to power, Xi was overthrown in China, and the new leaders instituted true democracy in this huge country, Milei resigned and entered the convent...
We build more vertical cities, healthier, accessible to all, and the multiple public transport, electric and hydrogen, almost free, circulate without noise throughout the territory...
But it is probably time for me to wake up: I had to force it on the chamomile last night.
Ideale Welt
All of them now live in small villages where everyone has their own house, which is powered by solar and wind power. You have your own water treatment and a small garden where you can grow your own food. In politics, meanwhile, referendums have been introduced where everyone can participate in the decision-making process as laws are regulated and, above all, as it looks in the immediate environment. Cars are solar powered and can be recharged over the road surface. At home, a personal robot helps with housework and all other things. Politics has become a voluntary service whereby the financial resources of the state are sufficient to cover everything and to finance the necessary wages that are sufficient for life. The country has again set itself the goal of producing almost everything itself and thereby creating jobs and importing only the most necessary. Since this principle is regulated equally in all countries, there is peace among themselves and the famine is completely abolished.
Ki is a daily companion and fully integrated into society and is not considered a threat.
For older people, there are residential parks where you can live in community of others without being alone and with everything needed, from medical care, to shopping, care etc.
un monde meilleur
A world where artificial intelligence cultivates benevolence and kindness between individuals, helps to establish a climate of trust between individuals on earth. A world where hard work is taken on by technology and allows workers to return home less tired. A world where children are cherished by their parents who finally understand that children are born to be loved. A world unarmed in the proper sense of the word. A world where everyone eats their fill.
Ateities Vilnius
2040, 10 September. Europe has become the most advanced climate neutrality region in the world. Cities have completely abandoned fossil fuels, and each building has its own energy production system based on solar, wind and kinetic energy.
Evelina, now an experienced scientist, works in a global climate innovation lab that develops AI-powered air purification mechanisms. The streets are green, overflowing with vertical gardens, and the vehicles - without any pollution. Waste of water and food has become a thing of the past, as bioengineering has developed the most effective processing methods.
Society has also changed - the working week has been reduced to four days, as robotisation and AI have allowed people more time for creativity and personal development. The education system has introduced holistic teaching, where everyone can learn at their own pace, and virtual universities connect people from all over the world.
Evelina looks at the centre of Vilnius, where people communicate in the squares, musicians play, and technology serves not as a separation, but as a tool of unity. "This is what the future should have been like," she thinks, as she watches the sun set over the green horizons of the city.
Pour un monde vraiment meilleur
Capitalism is dead and buried, we all live in communion with nature. There is no more competitiveness or competition, just well-being everywhere around the earth. Everything's cleaned up. No more conflict or power. Equality and equity. The necessary tasks are carried out by robots and machines, as much as possible in a natural and non-polluting way, respectful of other species and the survival of the planet. Love is totally free and a blossoming sensuality brings joy to all humans. No more religion...
un pessimo futuro
a better future and exploit the heat, the cold, the wind that is created in industry. is a little untapped potential even that of pollution.
CO2 pollution can be transformed into positive energy, but unfortunately in 2040 it will not be possible.
I see 2040 with a high rate of pollution and waste of energy, a 'reckless increase in the population that already at the beginning of the year will have consumed what the earth gives'
I see more and more states wanting everything right away; rare earths electricity to go-go and if they can't get it here they threaten
I see more and more a race towards weapons that use a lot of electricity
we will have a world increasingly elittrized not in the sense of electricity but that given by the weather.
more and more lightning in the clear sky violent cloudbursts and temperature changes
Hunger is the real thing. will increase; desertification will advance quickly while the poor people will stand by waiting for something that will not come while the rich will have villas with pools and water in yosa
electric motorization is useless because if every car circulating in the world were electric there would not be enough electricity and to produce it we would use polluting energies
So 2040 is going to be a future like 2025 is, like 2000 was, nothing's going to change.
Näin eletään vuonna 2040
There is peace in the world. Climate change has been overcome. All people on Earth are equal. Everyone has a home and food. The world's income is distributed equally to all. Because all nations get food and housing, there is no more crime. Digitalization has ended in its own impossibility. Artificial intelligence is widely used in medicine and design. Epdemics and cancer are coming to an end. Medicine has evolved around the world. The population is naturally increasing. In Finland, too, three children are born to each mother and father. There's work for everyone because machines don't take care of everything. New technology has replaced cars and airplanes. With the power of thought, people can get to the place they want. Democracy works everywhere. The borders of the former states are really non-existent, which allows people to move around. Putin and Trump died in a plane crash while on their way to an agreement on peace in Ukraine. Volcanoes erupt, but their energy can be utilized. All of Finland is steadily populated. The climate in Finland is favorable everywhere in the country grows to need food, and trucks do not need to travel around the country. Trains are still in use, they carry people around the world for free.
Croire en l'avenir !
I may not be there in 2040, I'm 50 and I'm sick, I don't think I'm 70!...but all I hope is that my children and grandchildren are healthy, happy, with their families and have a good job so that they can live better than I have lived...I wish that medicine had made serious progress to be able to save all the sick, that there would be no more wars in the world killing poor innocent people and that the environment would be more respected so that the climate would not get out of control to the point of destroying our beautiful planet, that governments would be more understanding and do everything to help the poor people all over the world and save our beloved Earth! Balance and fairness for all! Everyone deserves happiness and health, no discrimination because of the color of their skin, or work more "repecuous" than that of their neighbor, no more dictatorships and disrespect for the poorest and above all no more wars for power or for territories! And take more care of our planet if we do not want to destroy it ourselves, before the time...
Harmonija
People are more protective of nature and its resources, everything that is used is recycled. All countries adhere to the principles of sustainability. No one fights for religious or political reasons. Even those who earn the least or are socially disadvantaged may not think or spend money on medicines or food.
