2040 ? That would make me 86 years old. So that future should be based on the idea of my full health and also the full health of my loved ones and actually the whole family and the whole society. I expect that it should be in a time of peace and full prosperity of society. In 15 years, not much will change in peacetime in general, we will have new cars, hopefully still fossil fuel powered. In Ostrava the first metro line will be opened, in Brno they will still be arguing about where to build the main station. Josef Mužík's grandson will find the treasure of Štěchovice and get fabulously rich. Thanks to this, he will invest massively in the development of a cure for cancer and in 2040 this cure will be distributed worldwide. There will be more and more migrants from Germany who will be actively involved in society, have their own associations, their own political parties and slowly participate in government and governance. Politicians will continue to take credit for the development of society, environmentalists will continue to strut around and present us with plans for a beautiful green future. There will be regular discount promotions on over-the-counter light drugs in Alberta. Security and national defence will be provided by a volunteer force under the command of Mark Benda. Thieves will still steal in the same way, probably more sophisticated and with more use of politicians, that's just the way it is in the Czech Republic and it will still be normal in 2040...

I imagine myself in 2040. I will be 87 years old and (in case I am) I will be an old, really old man. Fortunately, medicine has made great advances, to treat and, especially, prevent the diseases that afflict us in the third and fourth ages. In addition, I have a very good genetic makeup, inherited from parents who both died around the age of 100. I am fortunate to have a grandson (my son's son) who attends the European school, reformed to standards of which the EU. Yes, because it is nice and reassuring that more than Italian citizens we consider ourselves Europeans. Fortunately, our homeland has been able to take a great leap forward, freeing itself from the laces and strings that oppressed it and has become competitive again. A great market, great traditions, a beacon of civilization and culture. We have learned to accept that there are large and very strong competitors (USA, INDIA and CHINA), but we have not resigned ourselves to the decline, to which we seemed ineluctably resigned. For my part, I have tried to pass on to my grandson my experience, which comes especially from the mistakes I have made in my life.

Solar and wind power provide most of the energy needs of households and industry, while excess energy is stored in advanced battery systems or converted into green hydrogen. Fusion energy has become a reality, which means we have an almost unlimited source of clean energy with no hazardous waste. Cities are being completely transformed - vertical gardens and green roofs preserve air quality and reduce the effect of heat islands. Streets are adapted for pedestrians, cyclists and self-driving electric vehicles that operate on a shared use system, reducing the number of cars and traffic congestion. Oceans and rivers are clean, with plastics almost completely eliminated or replaced by biodegradable alternatives. Advanced recycling and reuse systems mean that we no longer have a concept of waste - it all goes back into the economy.
