In 2040, many of the most innovative breakthroughs being developed to contribute to sustainability, productivity and quality of life involve the synergistic combination of knowledge related to biology, science and technology. In 2050, we still have a long way to go. More people need to go to school, equal access to health is a priority and more CO2 needs to be sucked out of the atmosphere even though emissions are at a global 0. But despite everything, there is hope and the future looks brighter than it did back in dystopian 2025.

Europe-wide engagement events are organised. This will allow Europeans to discuss the challenges and priorities facing Europe, share their ideas and help shape a common future. The people of Europe will have a greater say in what the European Union does and how it works for them. People will be able to voice their opinions, suggestions and ideas about the Europe they want to live in. People will have better health, better access to healthcare. There are no more regions where transport does not move. Europe is self-sufficient and feeds its own people. Agriculture is in the spotlight. Urban populations are moving to the countryside. The rural-urban divide is disappearing. The digital society has evolved. Green energy is used. People are happy.
